Riding at Night? Use a Light!

Now that the days are shorter, you might be using Transfort after dark. Here's a transit tip to help your trip!

  • When you see the bus approaching, turn your phone on or shine a light so the bus operator can see you. If we can't see you waiting at the stop, the bus might pass by.
  • Some Transfort stops have solar powered lights with a battery storage system. Activate the light by using the push button. The light will stay illuminated for approximately 5 minutes. See the list of stops with solar powered lights.

Call Boxes at MAX Stations

Did you know that every MAX stop — including the South Transit Center and Downtown Transit Center — has an emergency call box? These call boxes are here to help keep you safe.

What You Should Know:

  • Direct line to 911 Dispatchers – Just press the button to be connected

  • Built-in camera – Focuses on the caller automatically - 911 and Transfort Dispatch can both view it

  • Easy to spot – Look for the blue box

Please remember, call boxes are only for emergencies.
