Environmental Planning Lunch & Learns

The City of Fort Collins environmental planners are hosting a summer Lunch & Learn series to assist with the environmental aspects of the development process, mitigation, and monitoring.  Each month a different topic will be covered by local professionals in that particular field.  The sessions are no cost and are a great opportunity to meet individuals with similar interests.

This session lunch will be provided compliments of Cedar Creek Associates and will be Monday, June 16, from 12:00-1:00 at the Larimer County building in the Lakes Estes Room located at 200 West Oak in Fort Collins .

This presentation will focus on how landscape architects and ecologists collaborate to identify, conserve, and uplift important ecological zones in proposed developments and master planned communities. The presenters are Klara Rossouw, a Professional Landscape Architect with Ripley Design, and Jesse Dillon, an ecologist with Cedar Creek Associates. Klara and Jesse will present on local development projects they have collaborated on and share their process to balance development and ecological values. Discussion highlights include making the connection between the City of Fort Collins Land Use Code and Natural Habitat Buffer Zone boundaries and crafting successful Adaptive Management plans for Natural Habitat Buffer Zones.

Please register for this event by June 12.  In person is encouraged if possible.

Preliminary Design Reviews

Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) serve as initial conversations between an applicant and City staff to determine whether a proposal aligns with the Land Use Code and prepare for a Development Review process. PDRs are for more complex proposals and the applicant pays a fee for them, unlike CDRs. Like CDRs, they occur before any neighborhood meetings and applications for Development Review.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

To Participate: Preliminary Design Reviews are not open for the public to attend. A record of comments from PDRs is available to the public. Please email  devreviewcomments@fcgov.com with questions.

They are an opportunity for the public to learn about the proposal, ask questions about the proposal and make comments which will be provided to the decision makers at the end of Development Review.
