Elk Meadow Trail

Join us in finishing the new Elk Meadow trail!

The Valley Loop Trail is being extended! This New trail will be called Elk Meadow, and will be officially opening to the public later this fall. To have it ready for opening, we need your help to finish building it. This volunteer opportunity will involve active, manual work smoothing out and finishing the new trail, including raking and moving material and preventing erosion.

Please join us at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area on September 13th and 20th from 8:00 am to noon. If you are interested in signing up, go to the following links:

National Public Lands Day

Join us for National Public Lands Day on September 27th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at Pineridge Natural Area.

The purpose of this project is to celebrate National Public Lands Day while helping out with a variety of trail-related projects at Pineridge Natural Area. We will have project options available for all ages and ability levels. Volunteers will be used to primarily clear drains, install rock work, and clean up trail tread. Don't worry - we'll show you how! Accessible options for project work will also be available, including picnic table staining and spreading crusher fine trail material near the parking lot. Volunteers participating in drain clearing and rock wall construction will need to be able to walk up to 3 miles, use hand tools, and be on hands and knees. Most projects will work in groups of 5 with a crew leader from Natural Areas staff.

Urban Forest Ambassadors

Join the Urban Forest Ambassadors and gain hands-on experience while making a positive impact on your community!

Every Friday in September from 9–11 a.m., our volunteer team partners with the City of Fort Collins Forestry arborist crew to prune young street trees. This effort not only helps keep our streets safe and beautiful, but also offers a fantastic opportunity to get outside, meet others, and learn a valuable, practical skill.

Whether you're passionate about trees or simply curious about tree care, we’d love to have you join us.

Asphalt Art Refreshment

Join FC Moves and artist Jess Bean in repainting this community space with a new design featuring imagery in consultation with the Arapaho Tribe (Hinono’eiteen). More details to come.

Volunteers will work side by side with the artist and project team to put paint to pavement, so come ready to roll! We’ll provide hand and eye protection, along with snacks, water, and shade. Volunteers should be prepared for physical activity including bending, kneeling and stooping for much of their shift.

No artistic experience necessary, just a willingness to help create a community canvas. This opportunity is open to volunteers age 15 and older.
