Lake Street safety survey

As part of the City’s Vision Zero goal to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2032, funding is now in place to make safety improvements on Lake Street. We’re gathering community feedback to better understand current conditions and travel experiences.

Please take a short survey to share what it’s like to walk, bike, scooter or drive on Lake Street today.

The All-Season Cyclist

Don’t let colder weather put the brakes on your biking! The All-Season Cyclist is a new four-part virtual series from FC Moves that helps riders stay safe, comfortable, and confident through every season.

Each monthly session focuses on practical, weather-ready strategies, from dressing for warmth and staying visible on dark commutes to maintaining your bike in snow. The series runs from November through February, with one session each month. All classes are free and online, so you can join from home or work.

November: Gear Up for Cold-Weather Riding
December: Brighten Your Commute (lunchtime edition!)
January: Keep Rolling Through Winter
February: From Frost to Fresh Starts

Safer Streets Northwest moves forward

The Safer Streets Northwest Study is looking at ways to make travel safer and more comfortable on the busiest streets in northwest Fort Collins. After hearing from more than 500 community members in the summer and fall of 2025, the project team is now developing ideas for safety improvements. These concepts will be shared with the community in early 2026, with more chances to give feedback. In the meantime, you can check out the Safer Streets Northwest website.

Asphalt Art refresh

Thank you to everyone who helped refresh the asphalt art at the intersection of Canyon Avenue, Magnolia Street and Sherwood Street this past October. The updated design features trout imagery instead of eagle feathers, created in consultation with the Friday Family to honor the cultural significance of eagle feathers. The project supports recent changes to the intersection that improve visibility, calm traffic and make crossings safer. In total, volunteers contributed 45 shifts and nearly 100 hours to bring the refreshed artwork to life.
