Get Ready to Recreate

Celebrating Differences and Promoting Inclusion

Today, December 3, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, an annual observance established by the United Nations to raise awareness, support rights and promote well-being and inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of life. The City's Adaptive Recreation Opportunities (ARO) program supports individuals of all ages and abilities in participating in City recreational activities.

If you are interested in getting involved as a participant or volunteer in Fort Collins' ARO programs, reach out to bmcdowell@fcgov.com.

The Recreation Department also provides an inclusion program for participants seeking support in non-adaptive programs. If you're looking for accommodations in an upcoming program, reach out to kjust@fcgov.com.

December Trail Tips

As the weather gets colder and the evenings get darker, it's a great time to revisit some of our safety tips for Fort Collins paved trail users. By following the rules and riding responsibly, we can all help make our city's trails safer and more fun, the FoCo Friendly Way!

Slow down.
Ride with care in busy areas and always yield to people on foot.

Give a heads up.
Use a bell or say "On your left!" before passing.

Watch for others.
Be extra careful around blind corners, underpasses, and bridges—oncoming trail users are just around the bend.
