Bike registration moves to Bike Index

Fort Collins is transitioning its bike registration system to Bike Index, a nationally recognized platform used by communities and universities across the country. This update creates a shared, community-wide system for registering bikes and other mobility devices, making it easier to protect your ride and support recovery if it’s lost or stolen.

Existing bike registrations with the City will be migrated to Bike Index in the coming days, no action is needed from current registrants at this time. Bike Index also offers free, self-serve registration at any time and now includes e-scooters and other mobility devices.

Apply for City boards and commissions

Want to help shape the future of transportation in Fort Collins? Applications to serve on City boards and commissions are now open through noon on Jan. 9, 2026.

We’re encouraging community members who care about biking, walking, rolling and transit to apply for the Active Modes Advisory Board or the Transportation Board. These boards help guide City decisions and support safer, more connected travel options for everyone.

Both two- and four-year terms are available, depending on the board. Applicants must live within the Fort Collins Growth Management Area and may apply for up to three boards or commissions, with a maximum of one appointment.

Be a Winter Bike to Work Day station host

Winter Bike to Work Day returns on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, and station hosts play a key role in helping people try an active way of getting around, sometimes for the very first time. By hosting a station, you help lower barriers, build confidence and create a welcoming moment for people exploring biking or other active modes in winter.

Stations will be active during the morning, 7–9:30 a.m., and afternoon, 3:30–5:30 p.m., commutes. Station host sign-up is open through 5 p.m. on Jan. 23. Hosts are encouraged to choose locations along paved trails, bike lanes and other low-stress routes to support safe, comfortable travel and highlight connected bike infrastructure.

FC Moves is happy to support station hosts with planning and resources, and the City’s bike map is a great tool to help you pick the perfect spot.
