March 2026 Transfort News

There’s a lot happening at Transfort - from a new safety partnership to Optimization Plan updates, job openings, and Senior Center travel training.

Optimization Plan Updates

In 2025, the City of Fort Collins launched the Transfort Optimization Plan with the goal of finding the most effective way to provide transit service within Transfort’s budget. Transfort continues to work on a recommended transit scenario to bring to City Council in late March.

A new map is available on the Optimization Plan website.

Transfort will present the recommended transit scenario to City Council and a final map will be available in April.

Implementation will start to take place in August 2026 while some routes which require significant realignment or new bus stops could take longer. Updates will be provided on the website if this timeline changes.

Your Ride, Your Safety: New Partnership on Transfort

Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) and Transfort have launched a three-year cooperative agreement to enhance riders’ sense of safety across the public transit system.

The initiative responds to community concerns about nuisance behaviors by increasing officer presence, enhancing training, and improving signage and security measures to promote a welcoming and respectful environment. It emphasizes visibility, early intervention and specialized support teams to reinforce clear expectations and ensure riders and operators feel supported.

Riders and community members can expect to see increased FCPS officer presence from District 1 (D1), the Homeless Outreach and Proactive Engagement (HOPE) and Mental Health Response (MHRT) teams, as well as Transit Service Officers. Riders may also notice installation of new signage on buses, at transit centers and adjacent City property, as well as additional camera security.
