Optimization Plan Updates

Transfort provided a staff report to City Council at Council's March 24, 2026 Work Session and received support to move forward with implementation of the Optimization Plan.

Implementation will start to take place in August 2026 while some routes which require significant realignment or new bus stops could take longer.

Rider Safety Improvements

In response to community feedback, the City is investing in multiple safety measures on Transfort buses to create a safer, more welcoming system for riders and operators. Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) and Transfort have launched a partnership to enhance safety and improve rider experience through increased officer presence, upgraded security measures and expanded support teams across the transit system.

Building on these efforts, FCPS will also deliver quarterly training for staff. These sessions will include verbal judo - a communication approach that uses empathy, active listening and respectful language to de-escalate conflict and gain voluntary cooperation - alongside Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) and Community-Oriented Policing (COP) strategies to support collaborative, proactive problem-solving.

Get Involved - Garden Volunteers Needed!

Tucked into a hidden corner of the Downtown Transit Center lies the resting place of Annie - a dog who captured hearts after being rescued by railroad workers in the 1930s and went on to become a local mascot. When Transfort redeveloped the site in 2001, her gravesite was thoughtfully preserved as a small but meaningful piece of Fort Collins history.

Last fall, native plants were added to begin bringing the space back to life - but it needs a little help to truly thrive. We’re looking for volunteers to help care for Annie’s garden through weeding, tending and general upkeep.

Come lend a hand and help this special spot bloom again while honoring a beloved local story.
