New route changes begin Monday, Aug. 17, with more frequent service on key routes, a simplified route network and updated Dial-A-Ride paratransit service. The changes are designed to improve reliability, strengthen connections across the city and make the system easier to use.

All routes - including MAX, FLEX, HORN, GOLD and the Foothills Shuttle - will remain fare-free.

As students head back to school this August, our streets and sidewalks become busier with pedestrians, bicyclists and transit riders. Whether you're catching the bus for work, school, or errands, taking a few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe.

• While waiting for the bus, stand at least six feet back from the curb and wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before approaching. When boarding or exiting, use the handrail for added stability.
• If you need to cross the street, never cross directly in front of the bus. Instead, cross well behind it where you have a clear view of oncoming traffic, and always look left, right and left again before stepping into the roadway.
• Once on board, find a seat as soon as possible. If standing, hold onto a pole or strap for balance. Keeping aisles clear and remaining seated whenever possible helps create a safer, more comfortable ride for everyone.
