There is so much to do around Fort Collins in the summer. This newsletter offers some highlights and opportunities.

Did you know?  The City offers Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training to local residents. Residents can also get involved in local emergency preparedness efforts through the Fort Collins Volunteer Response Team (FCVRT) — a group of CERT-trained volunteers trained in disaster preparedness and emergency response skills. The City's Office of Emergency Preparedness is taking a survey to learn how well prepared Fort Collins community members are for emergencies and disasters. Your feedback will be used to improve emergency preparedness education and planning. 

Adaptive Recreation Opportunities (ARO) provides quality and equal opportunities for recreation and leisure programs to community members with disabilities. Open to people of all abilities, the ARO program offers healthy and fun experiences through inclusion support, transition services, specialized programs and adaptive equipment rentals. ARO services strive to foster independence for the individuals we serve within their recreation experiences.

Volunteers are needed to help!  Assist participants with lane assignments, getting bowling gear, and completing games under the supervision of the Special Olympics bowling coach. Offer general assistance to participants as needed.

NextGenServe is the the City's volunteer service club, open to teens ages 13-18.  This summer 50 teens have dedicated their summer to NextGen, providing valuable service to City departments and local non-profits. We're only one-month in and teens have already assisted with projects at a Poudre Fire Station, Parks, Colorado Youth Outdoors, the Loveland Community Kitchen, FoCo Cafe, Hearts and Horses and the TAC212. Teens are seeing the difference they make as they learn valuable job skills and explore career paths.  What are you up to this summer?
