Mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus in Fort Collins this summer. Take steps to protect yourself and loved ones with the Four Ds:

• Drain standing water.
• Dress in long sleeves and pants.
• Defend yourself with an approved repellent.
• Limit time outdoors from Dusk to Dawn.

Make your way to The Gardens on Spring Creek on Friday, Aug. 21, for Garden a'Fare: a one-of-a-kind evening filled with beautiful gardens, handcrafted cocktails, live music and artists painting in real time. Stroll, sip, savor and celebrate summer surrounded by nature's beauty, all while supporting your local botanic garden.

Are you ready for a wildfire, flood or blizzard?

Help us understand how prepared residents are for disasters. Your feedback will help the City improve emergency education and planning. The survey is open through Aug. 7.

Visit the Bike Fix-It Bonanza for free, drop-in bike repairs! Services are first-come, first-served and may include flat tire repair, brake and gear adjustments, minor mechanical fixes and safety checks. Staff will also be on hand to answer questions and share resources about biking in Fort Collins.

Support the Fort Collins urban forest by purchasing a discounted, locally-grown tree for your home through the annual Rooted in Community Tree Sale! Trees will be available to residents in the Fort Collins Growth Management Area for $25 each starting 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24.

With varieties including shade, ornamental and fruit, these trees will help homeowners lower energy costs, filter air and water, reduce stormwater runoff, and slow climate change.

Starting Monday, Aug. 17, Transfort is changing its bus service as part of the Transfort Optimization Plan. Bus frequencies and routes are changing, and Routes 10, 11, 12, 32 and 92 will end, along with all Sunday service.

Rides stay fare-free on all routes, including MAX, FLEX, HORN, GOLD and the Foothills Shuttle.

Dial-A-Ride service is also changing, including new Dial-A-Taxi voucher amounts and service areas.

August's biggest traffic impacts:

• Trilby remains closed at College while crews rebuild the intersection.
• Lane shifts continue on Harmony between Lemay and Timberline for work on the Power Trail Underpass project beneath Harmony.

Several high-impact road closures ended recently/are ending soon:

• Lemay reopened between Horsetooth and Harmony following a large water main repair.
• Shields will reopen between Mountain and Mulberry in early August following utility work and and safety improvements.
• Trilby will reopen between Lemay and Timberline in mid-August following a bridge replacement.

We encourage everyone to stay safe around work zones. Whether you're walking, biking, rolling or driving nearby, please follow all posted signs for your safety and the safety of those around you.

Every year, the Disability Advisory Board recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations in our community who work to enrich the lives of people with disabilities.

Nominations for the 2026 awards are open until Aug. 28. The person you nominate doesn’t have to be a Fort Collins resident; their work just has to be making a difference in our community.

• Only flood insurance covers floods. Visit FloodSmart.gov for up to a 40% discount on flood insurance for Fort Collins residents.
• Create an emergency plan and kit using ready.gov.
