Fort Collins residents have weighed in, and the 2026 Community Survey paints a positive picture: 87% rate their quality of life as very good or good. Residents continue to feel safe and rate City services highly, particularly utilities, parks, trails and emergency services. Several safety services improved including emergency preparedness, disaster response and crime prevention. Looking ahead, residents identified transportation improvements and housing affordability among the top priorities for the City to focus on.

On Friday, Sept. 4, Linden Street comes alive from 5-9 p.m. with a pedestrian-only celebration featuring live music, family-friendly games, local sidewalk vendors and a skateboard expo. Enjoy live music (a part of the City's FoCo Pop summer concert series), plus enjoy Learn to Skate from 5-7 p.m. and Open Skate from 7-9 p.m. Bring friends and family for a free evening of music, connection and fun in Downtown Fort Collins.

Come experience a thoughtful intersection of art and horticulture in a fresh, unexpected way: Explore Chromatecture: Where Geometry Meets Nature on display at The Gardens on Spring Creek through Sept. 27.

Featuring 10 freestanding sculptures by artist Pard Morrison set throughout the landscape that inspired them, these vibrant works invite visitors to slow down and discover connections between color, structure and surrounding space. The exhibition is included with admission.

Following lengthy closures, Trilby Road is steadily reopening to traffic:

• Trilby reopened to traffic between Lemay and Timberline on Aug. 19, after crews replaced Trilby's culvert over Fossil Creek.
• The rebuilt intersection of College and Trilby will reopen to traffic in mid-September (date to be announced).

Elsewhere, expect these impacts:

• Cherry will be closed to traffic Sept. 8-11 between College and Mason for railroad repairs

We encourage everyone to stay safe around work zones. Whether you're walking, biking, rolling or driving nearby, please follow all posted signs for your safety and the safety of those around you.

For more than 40 years, the Human Relations Awards have celebrated community members who work to advance inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility in our community. Nominations for this year's awards are open!

Awards recognize work in the following categories:

• Individual Award
• Organization/Team Award (nonprofit or for-profit organization)
• Youth Award (18 years or younger)
• Rising Star Award

Nominations are open until Oct. 30.

September is National Preparedness Month, so it’s a great time to take a few simple actions to prepare for emergencies and disasters:

• Sign up for emergency notifications with NOCO Alert.
• Build an emergency kit with items you may need during an emergency. Include supplies for each family member, including pets.
• Make a plan so that you and your family know what to do and where to go during an emergency.

In regional partnership, the City of Fort Collins and Larimer County had identified a new landfill and transfer station as a top priority for the continued collaboration to support zero-waste goals.

The new North Landfill and Central Diversion & Transfer Station opened in August. Now, Fort Collins residents who self-haul waste should use the Central Diversion & Transfer Station at the South Property of the Larimer County Landfill.

In honor of Labor Day, all City offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7.

City Park Pool will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All other recreation facilities and the Museum of Discovery will be closed. The Gardens on Spring Creek will remain open. Transfort will run holiday service.
