Walk and Roll to School Day is Oct. 7

National Walk and Roll to School Day is Wednesday, Oct. 7, when schools across the country celebrate walking, biking and rolling to school.

For families, it’s a chance to try an active trip to school, practice the route together and experience what the school commute can look like without a car. It’s also a chance for communities to highlight the importance of making trips to school safer and more comfortable for young people.

If you’re driving on Oct. 7, please slow down, stay alert and watch for more students and families walking, biking and rolling to school.

Check with your school to see how it is participating this year, then make a plan to walk, bike or roll on Oct. 7.

You may also spot Spin’s new Honda Fastport eQuad around town. This smaller electric vehicle gives staff a more nimble way to move and maintain bikes and scooters without relying on a traditional cargo van.

There are also several ways to save on rides:

  • 99¢ Club: Pay 99 cents per month for $2.39 trips on campus.
  • Fort Collins residents: Get 15% off trips with a Fort Collins ZIP code billing address.
  • CSU students, faculty and staff: Get 25% off with a @colostate.edu email address.
  • Spin Access: Eligible riders can ride for 5 cents per minute through Get FoCo.

Together, the new vehicles and lower-cost options make it easier to use Spin for trips across campus and around Fort Collins.
