Flora of North America recognizes two varieties of T. scaposa, both native to the U.S. Variety argyrocaulon is native only to Texas and variety scaposa is native to Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.


This is an important larval and adult food host for many of our native invertebrates.
