Notes

Flora of North America recognizes eight varieties of E. corymbosum all native to different portions of the western, and southwestern U.S. including one variety in Texas. Three varieties are native to western Colorado, varieties orbiculatum, corymbosum and velutinum.


The three varieties vary slightly in appearance, mostly in the shape and size of leaves. Seeds are popular with birds.
