Notes

Flora of North America recognizes three varieties of J. arcticus, all native to North America. Variety alaskanus is found in the northern portions of North America, including Alaska. Variety mexicanus and balticus are both native to Colorado; the former is found in the southwestern states and the latter is found throughout the western half of the U.S, as well as parts of Canada and the northeastern U.S.
